The vision for The Chequers Inn is a family friendly, country pub for the local community which will be supplied locally as far as possible, including from the neighbouring Pusey Farm.
The main changes include increasing of the size of the kitchen and food prep areas. This is achieved by replacing all the unsightly sheds and outdoor fridges which are there currently, with an internal, fit-for-purpose and modernised kitchen. As many pubs across the country struggle we need to ensure we are offering our customers the best experience possible on both atmosphere, food and drinks but also rooms for people to stay. With that in mind we are also proposing to add four extra bedrooms (with en-suite shower rooms) to the three bedrooms that already exist as part of the b&b offering.
We believe these important changes will bring the Chequers up to date so that it can remain the hub of Charney Basset for generations to come.
We plan to open in the summer of 2027.
This assumes no further delays but we are currently waiting for further bat surveys to be completed before any works are able to start and will update on timing accordingly.
Despite being closed for refurbishment, as the weather improves, we intend to open the beer garden on occasional weekends, serving drinks and nibbles from a fully stocked mobile bar.
We will keep you posted on events and dates here.
